Srinagar, Aug 8: The Baramulla-Uri national highway will remain temporarily closed at Danakha Mode area on Sunday to facilitate hill-cutting work and prevent any untoward incident amid apprehensions of landslides, authorities said.

According to an order issued by the District Magistrate, Baramulla, the road at Danakha Mode, located at Design Chainage 65+600, will remain closed to vehicular traffic from 7 am to 5 pm on August 9.

The temporary closure has been ordered in view of the proposed hill-cutting work at the location. The authorities said the work could trigger landslides, necessitating restrictions on the movement of vehicles in the interest of public safety.

The order noted that there had been incidents of minor landslides on the road in the recent past, prompting the administration to take precautionary measures to avert any loss of life or damage to property.

The District Magistrate directed that the Baramulla-Uri road be kept closed at the specified location during the stipulated period to facilitate the execution of the work safely.
