Kollam: A 38-year-old man was hacked to death following a brawl at a bar in Kadakkal on Saturday night. The deceased has been identified as Sarath, a native of Viala, Kadakkal. Sarath was residing at his wife’s house in Anchumukku. Police said he had visited a bar in Kadakkal to consume alcohol and an argument broke out between him and another man, identified as Rahul. The altercation soon escalated, involving a group of four persons. Bar staff intervened and separated the groups.However, the other group allegedly followed Sarath in an autorickshaw after he left the bar. They intercepted him near Mele Pandalam Mukku and attacked him with sharp weapons. Though Sarath attempted to escape and ran to a nearby house, the assailants chased him down and repeatedly stabbed and slashed him.Locals rushed the grievously injured Sarath to the Kadakkal Taluk Hospital. He was later shifted to the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment, but he succumbed to his injuries.Kadakkal police have registered a case and launched a manhunt to nab Rahul and the other accused involved in the incident.
