Engineers inspect EVMs at a warehouse in Phulwarisharif ahead of the Bankipur byelection, in Patna on Saturday

Patna: First-level checking of electronic voting machines for the Bankipur assembly bypoll is underway at the EVM warehouse in Phulwarisharif, district officials said on Saturday. Engineers of Electronics Corporation of India Ltd are carrying out the exercise in the presence of candidates and representatives of political parties.The district administration has also stepped up voter awareness activities to encourage maximum participation in the bypoll. Booth-level officers, JEEViKA workers and Anganwadi workers are visiting households to distribute voter slips and urge people to cast their votes.Under the district-level Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation programme, a series of events has been planned in the constituency from July 19 to 26, including interactions with young voters, the “Know Your Booth” campaign, scooter rallies, signature drives and voter outreach programmes.District magistrate Kundan Kumar appealed to voters in Bankipur to participate in large numbers and strengthen democracy.
