The trailer of Manjummel Boys director Chidambaram’s next, Balan — The Boy, is out. The much-anticipated film will be released on June 19, in Malayalam, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Kannada.

The trailer does not reveal much. It shows a young boy’s search for his mother. The boy’s mother seems to be shapeshifting, moving around a lot, as if running away from something that seems to have a hold over her.

The trailer shows the boy asking his mother, “Mother, what is my new name?” as she whispers something into his ear. That arouses curiosity and sets the tone for a dark tale. The movie appears to have dealt with themes such as trauma, and survival. The movie promise to be a blend of thriller elements and intense drama.
