Faridabad: A newborn baby boy was found on a tin roof in an abandoned plot in AC Nagar early Tuesday. Police said the baby was first spotted around 6 am by an auto-rickshaw driver, Vicky, who was passing through the area and heard the cries. He immediately alerted nearby residents, who gathered at the spot and informed the Kotwali police station around 7.30am. “The baby was wrapped in a cloth and left on a tin roof in an abandoned plot,” said the station house officer (SHO) of Kotwali police station. “We have registered a case under Section 93 of the BNS, which pertains to the abandonment and exposure of children. An investigation is underway.” Police arranged for the newborn to be taken to BK Hospital, where he is currently under medical care. Doctors said the baby is in stable condition but will remain under observation for the next few days. Investigators are trying to identify those responsible for abandoning the child. While the spot where the baby was found has no CCTV surveillance, police are scanning footage from nearby areas and checking with local hospitals for possible leads. “We heard a loud commotion, people were shouting that a baby had been found,” said a local resident. “I don’t think the baby is from this area, someone from outside may have done this. It is heartbreaking to see something like this.”Police are now investigating the identity of the baby’s parents and others who may be involved in the incident.
