Gandhinagar: The State Election Commission (SEC) issued a formal order on Thursday, appointing Avantika Singh Aulakh, currently the managing director of GSPC, as the primary election observer for the high-stakes local body polls in Ahmedabad. In this critical supervisory role, Aulakh will oversee the electoral process for the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) as well as the Ahmedabad district panchayat. Her jurisdiction further extends to all municipalities and taluka panchayats across the district where voting is scheduled. The appointment is part of a broader strategy to ensure transparency and administrative rigor during the voting cycle.Simultaneously, the SEC has designated Vinod Rao, the principal secretary for forests and environment, to serve as the election observer for Surat. Rao will be responsible for monitoring the Surat Municipal Corporation election and the Surat district panchayat polls. Additionally, he will supervise the various municipalities and taluka panchayats going to the polls within Surat district. These senior bureaucrats have been tasked with maintaining law and order while ensuring strict adherence to the Model Code of Conduct throughout the democratic process.
