Prayagraj: Continuing its crackdown on mafia and gangsters in Prayagraj, police on Tuesday attached properties worth Rs 25 crore allegedly owned by Jai Prakash Dubey, an associate of slain don-turned-politician Atiq Ahmad.According to police, the properties, located in Mauja Shaha alias Peepalgav, Rahimabad, Kathula Gauspur and Chandrabhanpur under Sadar tehsil, were allegedly acquired through illegal means and were attached under the provisions of the Gangsters Act.Police officials said the properties are spread across 7,482.66 sq m and are valued at Rs 25 crore.A senior police officer told TOI that the investigating officer of Puramufti police station, while probing a case registered under the Gangsters Act at Airport police station, submitted a report to Prayagraj police commissioner seeking attachment of the properties owned by Dubey.Police said eight criminal cases are pending against Dubey at Airport and Dhoomanganj police stations. Investigators found that the properties were allegedly acquired through illegal means.Following orders from the competent authority, a joint team of police and revenue officials conducted a public announcement at the sites on Tuesday evening before attaching the properties. The team also installed notice boards announcing the attachment, an officer said.
