Bokaro: Athletes from Bokaro district clinched two gold medals at the recent National Tribal Athletics Championship 2026 held in Chhattisgarh.Neha Khalko, representing the Centre of Excellence, Chandankiyari, won a gold in the women’s 10-km race walk. “She became the first woman athlete from Jharkhand to secure a gold medal in this category,” said Bokaro deputy commissioner Ajay Nath Jha.Shiv Kumar Soren secured the gold in the 100-m sprint. “His victory has raised expectations, with the young sprinter now eyeing success at upcoming Asian-level competitions,” said the DC.Administrative officials also attributed the success to years of dedicated training under coach Anshu Bhatia, whose consistent efforts over the past seven years have helped shape the athletes. District sports officer Hemlata Bun’s guidance was acknowledged as instrumental in nurturing their talent and ensuring better exposure.
