PRAYAGRAJ: At least nine people were injured after a gas cylinder leak triggered a blast at a house in Uttar Pradesh’s Fatehpur district on Monday morning, police said.The incident took place in Bilkhani village under the Kalyanpur police station area, where a two-room house caught fire following the explosion.According to superintendent of police Abhimanyu Manglik, six members inside the house suffered burn injuries in the blast, while three neighbours were also injured after rushing in to help rescue the occupants.“Today, in the Kalyanpur police station area, there is a village called Bilkhani where a two-room house caught fire after a gas leak from a cylinder led to a blast. Due to the explosion, six people who were inside the house, along with three people from the neighbourhood who came to rescue them, sustained burn injuries,” the SP said.Police and ambulance teams reached the spot soon after receiving information about the incident and shifted the injured to Malwa Medical College for treatment.Officials said eight of the injured were later referred to Kanpur for advanced medical care after preliminary treatment.Police added that prima facie the blast appears to have been caused by a gas leak from the cylinder.
