Ranchi: Assistant teacher aspirants from across the state demonstrated in front of the Namkum-based Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) office on Monday, alleging lack of transparency in appointment of teachers in mathematics and science subjects.JSSC secretary Sudhir Kumar Gupta held talks with the protesters on the issue.The protesters claimed that JSSC results were published on Saturday without score cards and the raw merit list of the candidates. The verification of documents of candidates should have been conducted based on the raw merit list, they alleged.An aspirant from Palamu, Rahul Kumar, said, “Only 2,734 candidates were called by the JSSC for document verification to fill up around 5,000 mathematics and science teachers’ posts. The JSSC published the list of only 1,661 successful candidates on Saturday.”An aspirant from Garhwa, Ritesh Kumar, said, “The JSSC secretary told us that a section of the seats has been kept vacant as several two-year B.Ed candidates, who were asked to provide one year course certificate after document verification, has approached the High Court.”Rahul had met Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar last month over document verification without publication of merit list. He urged the governor to order a CBI probe into the appointment. The advertisement for around 26,000 assistant teachers’ post was published by the JSSC in 2023. The examination was held in June-July 2024. The document verification strated on June 6.The JSSC secretary did not respond to phone calls.
