Thiruvananthapuram: The assembly’s second session will begin on Oct 12 and will get down to govt’s financial business, with the revised budget and demands for additional spending set to take centre stage.According to the calendar issued by the legislature secretariat, the assembly will meet on Oct 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16, before taking a break for a week. It will resume on Oct 26 and continue till Oct 29. In all, there will be nine sitting days during the month.The key financial business is scheduled for Oct 15, when govt will lay the supplementary demands for grants for the revised budget for 2026-27. Govt will also place before the House demands for excess grants relating to five previous financial years — 2016-17, 2017-18, 2018-19, 2020-21 and 2021-22.The House will take up the voting on these demands on Oct 26, when MLAs will discuss and vote on the additional spending proposed under the revised budget and the excess grants of the previous years.The session will conclude its financial business on Oct 29 with the appropriation bills relating to the supplementary demands and excess grants. Oct 16 has been earmarked for govt business and private members’ business.
