Astrology is back in a big way in September 2026, with searches for zodiac signs, birth charts, planetary retrogrades and personality traits skyrocketing again. That’s also revived an older question—especially for Christian readers: What does the Bible really say about zodiac signs?The answer must be an important distinction. The Bible often speaks of the Sun, Moon, stars, and constellations. Still, it never describes the twelve zodiac signs as personality profiles or recommends using them to forecast individual futures.
Is There a Zodiac Mention in the Bible?
The Bible does reference constellations.Passages in the Book of Job speak of the Pleiades and Orion. Job 38:32 mentions Mazzaroth, a Hebrew word of uncertain meaning. The Magi have long been associated historically with learned observers of the heavens, so some readers wonder if this passage endorses astrology.But the tale offers no general direction for personal forecasting by the stars. The star has a particular meaning in the Bible story, connected with the birth of Christ.So it is difficult to cite this as general biblical approval of prediction based on the zodiac.
Do we call personality types zodiac signs?
Nowhere in the bible does it say Aries is brave, Virgo analytical, Libra balanced, or Pisces emotional.Those familiar zodiac personality descriptions come from later astrological traditions, systems developed through Babylonian, Hellenistic, Roman, and other subsequent astrological thought.So the Bible and modern horoscope culture are talking about the heavens in very different ways.
