Noida: Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has got a new chief executive officer (CEO). UP govt has appointed 2009-batch IAS officer Rakesh Kumar Singh the new CEO of YEIDA and Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL). State agency NIAL oversees the construction of Noida International Airport at Jewar. Rakesh Kumar is already familiar with the functioning of YEIDA having worked as its additional CEO from 2015 to 2016. Rakesh Kumar replaces Arun Vir Singh, who served as YEIDA CEO since 2016. Although Arun Vir officially retired in June 2019, he continued to lead through multiple extensions — seven in total — before his term finally ended on June 30. YEIDA and NIAL are currently managing some of the region’s most ambitious infrastructure and industrial projects.Rakesh Kumar brings considerable administrative experience to the role. Before his current posting as secretary to the UP CM Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow, Singh served as the DM of Ghaziabad, Kanpur and Moradabad. Originally selected to the PCS in 1994, he was promoted to the IAS cadre in 2016 and was allotted the 2009 batch. Officials said his strong background in district administration and prior exposure to industrial planning would help steer the Authority at a critical juncture. Singh’s priorities will include ensuring the timely completion and operationalisation of the Noida airport.
