Times News NetworkKanpur: A family returning after offering prayers at Mahakal in Ujjain met with a road accident in Sachendi in Kanpur when their speeding car rammed into a dumper moving ahead, killing Army Nayak Operator Ajay Kumar, while four others were injured during the wee hours of Friday. Police reached the spot, sent the injured to hospital while the body was for postmortem examination.The deceased was identified as 36-year-old Ajay Kumar, an Army Nayak Operator. He was the son of Shivram Singh, a resident of Juda Nivada in Kakwan, who retired from the Indian Army from the post of Subedar. The family includes Shivram Singh’s wife Shiv Kanti Devi, Ajay Kumar and another son, Amit, who is working as a sub-inspector in Delhi police.Amit said that his elder brother Ajay was currently posted in Kolkata and came home on leave a few days ago. He said that on Monday, Ajay left by train with wife Pooja and children Raghav and Sona for darshan at Ujjain’s Mahakaleshwar.At around 4 am on Friday, they got down at Orai station. Their cousin Sandeep went to Orai station by car to pick up the family, the police said.On the way back, near Orient Resort in Sachendi, the car went out of control and rammed into a dumper moving ahead, due to which Ajay Kumar died. Four others, including driver and brother Sandeep, were injured.After the accident, the dumper fled from the spot. On receiving information, the police sent the body for postmortem examination while the injured were admitted to a private hospital, from where child Raghav was referred to Lala Lajpat Rai hospital due to serious leg injury.ACP (Panki) Amit Chaurasiya said the injured were admitted to hospital and the body was sent for postmortem examination.
