Srinagar, Sep 25: Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Dhiraj Seth on Friday visited forward areas and formations of the Chinar Corps under Northern Command to review operational preparedness and the security situation along the Line of Control (LoC) and in the hinterland.
During the visit, the Army Chief was briefed by commanders on the prevailing security situation, operational readiness and ongoing efforts to strengthen military capabilities.
According to the Army, General Seth was also briefed on measures taken to maintain a strong security posture along the LoC and ensure preparedness for counter-terrorist operations in the hinterland.
Interacting with troops in operational areas, the COAS praised all ranks for maintaining a high level of vigilance. He also highlighted the key focus areas of “VIJAY”, a five-point framework aimed at transforming the Indian Army into a future-ready force capable of responding quickly across the full spectrum of operations.
The Army Chief also appreciated the coordination between the Indian Army, civil administration, Central Armed Police Forces, Jammu & Kashmir Police and other security agencies in maintaining peace and stability in the region.
During his visit to Tangdhar, General Seth inspected the Advanced Surgical Eye Camp being organised by the Indian Army under Operation Drishti 2026.
The camp, which is being held from September 23 to 30, aims to provide specialised eye care to serving personnel, Veer Naris, veterans, their dependents and civilians, particularly those living in remote and difficult-to-reach areas of Jammu & Kashmir.
Specialist teams from Army Hospital (Research & Referral), New Delhi, and 92 Base Hospital, Srinagar, are conducting the medical camp. More than 6,000 patients are expected to be screened, while over 400 eye surgeries are planned during the week-long initiative.
