Himmatnagar: In a focused 10-day sweep underscoring the state’s push against absconders, Aravalli police arrested 23 fugitives who had dodged courts for periods ranging from months to years. The June 12-21 drive, “Operation Karavaas,” used technology leads and ground intelligence to track accused across multiple police jurisdictions.Launched under senior officers’ directions, the district-wide operation mobilised local crime branch teams to trace and detain suspects wanted in cases under IPC, BNS and the Prohibition Act. Many had been evading warrants and violating bail conditions or parole requirements.Among those held were Mohammed Mohsin Khan alias Raja of Jamalpur in Ahmedabad and Jaydeepnath Anupnath Makwana of Garudi, both of whom were booked under the Prohibition Act.Teams picked up several others from Shamlaaji, Masur and adjoining police station areas in cases dating from recent months to several years ago, many linked to attempts to evade court processes. The drive ran under the guidance of deputy inspector general Virendra Singh Yadav, with coordination from Gandhinagar ensuring swift sharing of inputs and deployment of field units.Officers said the mix of digital tracking and human sources helped close long-pending warrants and locate bail jumpers. The operation highlights tighter enforcement against evasion of justice in North Gujarat and aims to deter repeat violations of bail and parole.
