Rajkot: A family on a pilgrimage to Dwarka returned to find their house burgled, with valuables worth more than Rs 11 lakh taken.The investigation quickly led Devbhumi Dwarka police to perpetrators from the complainant’s own village, where three men were arrested and all of the stolen property was recovered. Police also seized vehicles and devices used in the crime.The three men from Jam Rojiwada village in Bhanvad taluka allegedly broke into a farmer’s house and stole gold and silver jewellery, cash and other valuables on Saturday, when the family was away on a pilgrimage.Based on the farmer’s complaint, Bhanvad police registered an FIR on Sunday against unidentified persons.The complaint stated that the farmer, his wife and other family members left home at around 7am on Saturday to visit the Dwarkadhish Temple and Bet Dwarka. They had locked the house and front verandah. When they returned between 8pm and 8.30pm, they found the locks broken.Inside the house, they discovered that cupboards belonging to their two daughters-in-law had been tampered with. One compartment had been forced open, while another appeared to have been unlocked with a key.The burglars allegedly stole around 15 tolas of gold jewellery worth about Rs 10.80 lakh. They also took 150g of silver ornaments worth Rs 17,000 and Rs 17,000 in cash, bringing the total value of the stolen property to about Rs 11.14 lakh.Devbhumi Dwarka SP Jayrajsinh Vala told TOI that police initially registered a case against unidentified persons and launched an investigation. Investigators analysed CCTV footage and examined technical evidence.Technical surveillance and human intelligence led police to the complainant’s own village. Officers subsequently arrested Milan Solanki (27), a driver, his younger brother Bhavesh Solanki (22), and their friend Ravi Solanki (21). The accused allegedly confessed to committing the burglary due to financial difficulties, police said.
