Srinivasulu Reddy added that by taking these additional measures, the govt can reinforce its commitment to employee welfare and demonstrate its intent to prioritise the interests of its workforce

Vijayawada: Welcoming the state govt’s decision to release long-pending dues to employees and pensioners, Onteru Srinivasulu Reddy, state honorary president of the teachers’ associations coordination forum, said the move would provide much-needed financial relief.

Speaking to the media here on Friday, Srinivasulu Reddy appreciated the decision taken by the chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, to release Rs 7,059 crore towards pending payments. He described the step as “commendable”, noting that it addresses dues that accumulated over the past few years. Reddy said that the latest release includes Rs 1,847.83 crore towards provident fund, Rs 3,411.03 crore towards gratuity, Rs 1,800 crore for leave encashment of retired employees and Rs 223.47 crore towards additional surrendered leave benefits for police personnel. These payments, he said, would ease financial stress for thousands of serving and retired employees across the state.

However, Srinivasulu Reddy pointed out that several issues still remain unresolved. He noted that multiple dearness allowance (DA) instalments are pending, which has significantly impacted employees’ financial stability. In addition, the delay in announcing the pay revision commission (PRC) has added to the concerns of employees, as the current pay structure has already exceeded its stipulated term.

He urged the govt to expedite the release of pending DA arrears and constitute the PRC at the earliest to provide comprehensive relief. “While the clearance of dues is a positive step, addressing DA and PRC issues will further strengthen the financial security of employees,” he said. Srinivasulu Reddy added that by taking these additional measures, the govt can reinforce its commitment to employee welfare and demonstrate its intent to prioritise the interests of its workforce.
