Patna: Released from Beur Central Jail after spending 141 days in custody, JD(U) MLA Anant Singh, popularly known as Chhote Sarkar, embarked on a massive roadshow from Patna to Mokama on Tuesday. Accompanied by a convoy of nearly 100 vehicles, the don-turned-politician made a “triumphant” journey back to his home turf amid enthusiastic public reception.Supporters lined the entire route, standing at various locations with garlands and flowers to welcome him. The celebrations reached a high point at Athmalgola, where crowds cheered loudly and hailed Singh as the “Sher-e-Bihar” (Lion of Bihar). He reached his ancestral village, Nadwan, where he performed puja at Devi Sthan Temple.Speaking to media persons, he said that his visit to Mokama was not politically motivated but to seek blessings from the goddess in the temple at his village and to talk to the people in his constituency. The MLA reiterated that he will not contest election but left the door open for his sons, saying if his sons visit Mokama and work for the welfare of the people there, they could contest in his place.Singh was released following a regular bail granted by a Patna court in the Dularchand Yadav murder case. He was arrested in November last year as the prime accused in the killing of a rival political worker during the last assembly election campaign. Singh has consistently denied the charges, claiming he was “falsely implicated”.He said that he was falsely implicated in the case and that he was approximately four kilometres away from the spot of the incident at that time.
