Vadodara: Victims of cyberfraud in Anand district have received some relief after the cybercrime police restored Rs 1.13 crore that had been frozen in connection with cybercrime cases over the past two months.According to the Anand Cybercrime police station, the amount was returned to victims following intervention by the cybercrime team.As part of the process, police teams contacted complainants who had reported cyberfraud and collected details of the bank accounts from which the fraudulent transactions originated. They also obtained information about the accounts into which the defrauded money had subsequently been transferred and frozen.Police approached the courts and secured orders for the restoration of the funds to the respective victims. The Money Restoration portal was also used for the purpose, police said.The initiative followed directions from the inspector general of police, Ahmedabad division and the Anand district superintendent of police to provide immediate assistance to cybercrime victims and facilitate the return of their money.Cybercrime police have also issued precautions to help people avoid online financial fraud. They have advised citizens not to share bank account details or one-time passwords (OTPs) with callers and not to download remote-access applications at the request of unknown persons.
