Kolkata: After BJP national president Nitin Nabin’s visit to West Bengal this week ahead of assembly polls, Union home minister Amit Shah will visit the state on Friday and Saturday.

While Shah will hold a crucial meeting with the BJP core committee members and party workers of various districts to discuss the poll preparedness, he is likely to hold a public rally in the industrial belt of Barrackpore in North 24 Parganas district, people in the know said. The area has a significant number of Hindi-speaking voters.

“With election knocking at the door and in a bid to boost the karyakartas, we have a ‘Karyakarta Sammelan’ of four districts (Barrackpore, Barasat, Bangaon and Basirhat). All party workers are waiting for Shah to address them,” former MP and senior leader Locket Chatterjee told mediapersons.
“In 2026, people are ready to bring change. After coming to power, we will be able to set up industries again in the Barrackpore belt, where most of the factories have closed down. Industries and jute mills, which have been closed down, will be reopened. BJP is known for its industrial initiatives. Amit Shah will guide us,” she said.

Shah had visited Kolkata in the last week of December 2025 and held high-level meetings with the party’s core committee, MPs and MLAs, and chalked out plans for the 2026 assembly polls.
