T’puram: Air Marshal Jasvir Singh Mann, assumed charge as air officer commanding-in-chief of Southern Air Command. He was accorded a ceremonial guard of honour at the command headquarters on the occasion.Commissioned into the fighter stream of Indian Air Force in Dec 1989, Mann is an experienced fighter pilot with over 3,000 flying hours on aircraft including the Apache, MiG-21, Jaguar, MiG-29, Su-30 and Rafale. A graduate of Defence Services Staff College, Higher Air Command and the Royal College of Defence Studies in London, he is also a qualified pilot attack instructor.During his distinguished career spanning nearly four decades, he has held several key command and staff appointments, most recently serving as senior air staff officer at Western Air Command. He succeeds Air Marshal Manish Khanna, who retired on June 30 after four decades of service.
