Srinagar, Sept 25: Awami Itihaad Party (AIP) chief spokesperson Inam Un Nabi on Friday urged the Jammu and Kashmir Government to address recruitment concerns of agriculture graduates and review the existing recruitment structure in the Agriculture cadre.
Un Nabi said there had been no recruitment in the Gazetted Agriculture cadre for nearly two decades, while recruitment to the Non-Gazetted cadre had remained largely absent for around a decade.
He said the entry-level Non-Gazetted post was under 100 per cent promotional quota, leaving agriculture graduates with limited opportunities for direct entry. At the Gazetted level, he said, only 20 per cent of posts had been earmarked for direct recruitment.
“The recruitment structure needs to be examined objectively, vacancies identified and a regular recruitment mechanism put in place,” Un Nabi said.
He urged the government to review the existing quota and recruitment framework, fill vacant posts through a transparent process and provide more avenues for direct recruitment of agriculture graduates.
He also said strengthening the Agriculture Department required adequate professional manpower, given the sector’s importance to Jammu and Kashmir’s economy.
