Srinagar, Oct 07: Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) Chief Spokesperson Inam Un Nabi has questioned the implementation of the National Conference’s 2024 manifesto promise to waive application fees for job aspirants applying through recruitment agencies such as JKSSB and JKPSC.
AIP, in a statement, said government figures show that JKSSB and JKPSC collected approximately ₹113.93 crore in examination and application fees between 2023-24 and 2025-26 against 15,964 advertised posts and more than 21 lakh applications.
Nabi questioned what had happened to the NC’s commitment to waive application fees for job aspirants.
He said repeated application and examination fees placed a significant financial burden on unemployed youth, particularly amid uncertain and delayed recruitment processes.
AIP demanded a year-wise and agency-wise account of the fees collected, along with an explanation for the non-implementation of the manifesto commitment.
Nabi also called for application fees to be waived, at least for economically vulnerable and unemployed candidates, and urged the government to conduct recruitment examinations within announced timelines.
He further demanded publication of the status of pending recruitments, examinations and appointments to ensure that candidates are not repeatedly paying fees while waiting for government jobs.
