Jaipur: An Air India flight from Bhopal to Delhi made an emergency landing at Jaipur International Airport Sunday morning after the pilot suspected a possible engine fault. The flight with over 130 passengers on board landed at Jaipur airport at 9:40 am.Airport officials said that all emergency protocols like ambulance service and fire tenders were put on standby at the airport as the flight landed in Jaipur.In a statement issued Sunday afternoon, Air India said, “Flight AI-1886 operating from Bhopal to Delhi on Sept 13 was diverted to Jaipur due to a technical issue as per laid down procedures. The aircraft landed safely at Jaipur and is undergoing checks in line with Air India’s safety standards.”“Air India regrets the inconvenience caused to passengers by this unforeseen situation and every effort is being made to fly the passengers to their destination at the earliest. Our ground team at Jaipur has been providing immediate assistance and support to the passengers. At Air India, the safety of our passengers and crew remain top priority,” added the statement. Officials said that the permission for the aircraft to resume operations will be granted only after the technical inspection is completed.The flight was later cancelled and passengers were sent to Delhi by road.Meanwhile, an IndiGo flight 6E-864 from Kolkata to Chandigarh was diverted to Jaipur due to poor weather conditions at Chandigarh Airport. The flight landed at 3:30 pm and took off from Jaipur by 4:30 pm after the weather cleared in Chandigarh.
