Ahmedabad: A 59-year-old sub-postmaster at HSG-2 was allegedly caught red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 at the sub-post office in Paldi on Saturday.According to Gujarat Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), the sub-postmaster had allegedly demanded Rs 30,000 from a citizen to block an order concerning an NDC parcel office.Disturbed by the continuous corruption and the unfair financial demand, the complainant approached the local office of the ACB, which then meticulously laid a trap for the sub-postmaster to catch the official in the act.During the initial discussions, the complainant negotiated the amount down to Rs 10,000, which the sub-postmaster allegedly accepted at the Paldi office. ACB officials confirmed that their team recovered the entire bribe amount from the accused during the surprise raid and apprehended her for further legal proceedings under the Prevention of Corruption Act.Further investigation into the office records is currently under way, and authorities have urged citizens to report similar extortion attempts immediately.
