Several city notables participated in the event to bless the new parents.A 6-month-old boy, Shubhman, was also adopted on Saturday. The adoptive parents, Arunesh and Riddhima Chopra, are from Ghaziabad. The couple has a 12-year-old girl, but they decided to adopt a child to extend their family. Shishu Gruh officials said that so far, they rescued about 600 children, of whom 290 have been adopted, including 22 by couples abroad. Annually, about 35 to 40 children are received by the organization from either police and legal agencies after abandonment, or by the surrender of a child by a family under certain circumstances.
