Ahmedabad: A cab driver of a Sindhu Bhavan Road hotel has been booked by Airport police after a Delhi family alleged that he did not return a jewellery bag accidentally left in the vehicle.The family said the bag contained three gold necklaces worth Rs 14.3 lakh. The bag was left behind in the cab after the driver dropped the family at the airport.According to the FIR, Neeraj Daftur, his wife Ishani, and other family members travelled from Delhi to Ahmedabad on July 19 to attend a social function.The complaint stated that the Dafturs visited a jewellery showroom in Satellite, where they bought the three gold necklaces.

After returning to the hotel, the Dafturs collected their luggage and travelled in the hotel cab to a restaurant in Navrangpura.After lunch, the Dafturs left for Terminal-2 of Ahmedabad airport.The complaint said the Dafturs reached the airport around 4.30pm. They realised the bag was missing only after reaching home in Delhi.The complaint said, “Instead of informing Ishani Daftur or the hotel after finding the bag with gold necklaces in the vehicle, the driver dishonestly took away the bag.”The FIR was lodged by an Ahmedabad-based advocate authorised through a power of attorney by Neeraj Daftur.
