Ahmedabad: The Gujarat high court has directed the State Election Commission to include the names of Sanjay Gadhavi and Varsha Katara in the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation electoral roll, clearing the way for them to contest the civic polls.Gadhavi moved the court after finding that his name was missing from the AMC Khokhra ward electoral roll, where he plans to contest. His name had been deleted during the special intensive revision (SIR) in the Maninagar assembly constituency. Although it was later restored in the assembly electoral roll, it did not appear in the municipal roll. Katara faced a similar issue in the Sabarmati ward. Her name was deleted during the SIR for the Sabarmati assembly constituency and was later restored to the assembly roll but remained absent from the municipal electoral roll. In separate orders, the high court held that both petitioners had made out a case for inclusion in the electoral roll and, as a result, would be entitled to take part in the election process.
