Ahmedabad: AMC’s North-West Zone estate department and Ahmedabad city police ‘M’ Division traffic department jointly carried out an intensive night drive against traffic-obstructing encroachments in Bodakdev and Thaltej wards and on Sindhu Bhavan Road.Action was taken against street vendors who were found selling goods from vehicles parked on Sindhu Bhavan Road. During the drive, officials locked 15 such vehicles and collected an administrative penalty of Rs 23,500. Officials also seized 13 miscellaneous items that were obstructing traffic.AMC officials said some vendors were found disrupting public order and traffic movement. When the vehicles were being clamped, a few individuals allegedly behaved rudely with the AMC team and attempted to obstruct their work. The team continued the operation in accordance with the law.The civic body said it will continue taking strict action against illegal encroachments on public roads, traffic obstruction, and interference with official duties. The AMC estate department and traffic department will conduct similar night encroachment removal drives regularly on Sindhu Bhavan Road and in other parts of the city.
