Ahmedabad: AMC has launched an intensive day-and-night road repair drive, over the last few days. To accelerate patch work on major arterial routes, civic engineering teams laid a total of 344 MT of hot-mix materials. Out of this, the Central Zone received 140 MT of the mixture, with another 204 MT distributed across other busy zones to complete high-priority repairs.The AMC created logs of verified completions through photographs across key areas, including Khadia’s Khatki Wad and Jamalpur’s Gema Master na Chhapra using hot-mix, Thaltej’s Sairam Crossing on Bopal Road via infrared tech, and the Mehmedabad Road in Ramol-Hathijan ward via temperature patchers.During an overnight operation, civic body crews successfully implemented new methods of filling potholes spanning a combined 1,278 sq m. “We deployed three distinct repair methodologies. While 50 potholes were packed using wet-mix materials, four potholes were treated using specialised temperature-regulated machines, and two major craters were repaired using infrared technology. We will now implement this strategy throughout the city.”Despite no rain between 10am and 4pm on Saturday, Ahmedabad’s seasonal rainfall average stood at 639.5 mm (25.18 inches). AMC confirmed that all city roads and underpasses remained fully operational, with no online monsoon-related complaints registered during the day.Simultaneously, AMC launched intensive sanitation and plastic raids in North West Zone to address public health concerns. Civic teams issued notices to 61 units, seizing 5kg of prohibited plastic, and collecting Rs 47,700 in fines. In a major crackdown, officials sealed six business units for severe hygiene violations and illegal plastic usage. The sealed properties include Ramdev Dairy, Astha Parlor, and Radhe Pan Parlor on Gota’s Radha Swami Road, Ghanshyam Store and Umiya Children Hospital in Ghatlodia, and Ramdev Plywood Hardware in Chandlodia.
