Ahmedabad: A visit meant to clear the air over a society-related issue allegedly spiralled into violence on Friday night, leaving a father and son injured inside their residential complex.In a complaint filed with Naroda police on Saturday, a 55-year-old private employee said he lives with his family in Shahibaug. He alleged that a society office-bearer frequently contacted his wife regarding society and other matters, something she had informed him about earlier.
According to the complaint, around 8pm on Friday, the man and his son went to the office-bearer’s residence to discuss the issue. The office-bearer was not at home. After a brief interaction with family members, the father and son began walking back and paused near the society’s security cabin.There, they were allegedly confronted by four men, including the office-bearer’s son and others described as frequent visitors. The men questioned why the complainant had come to speak about the office-bearer with his wife. The complainant alleged that the group began abusing him and his son. When he objected, the four allegedly assaulted both of them.The complaint states that one of the accused brought a sword and struck the complainant on his left hand, causing bleeding. When the son attempted to intervene, another attacker allegedly took the sword and hit the son on the head, also causing bleeding.A relative who reached the spot during the altercation was also allegedly attacked. According to the complaint, one of the assailants brought an iron pipe and struck the relative on the waist.Residents intervened and separated the groups, after which the accused allegedly fled while brandishing the sword and iron pipe. The complainant alleged that the attackers threatened them, saying, “Today we left you alive; if you take our names, we will not leave you alive.”The injured were taken to the Civil Hospital and later approached Naroda police, naming the office-bearer, his son and two others in the complaint. Further investigation is underway.
