Noida: Noida Authority has selected an agency to build entry and exit ramps on Bhangel elevated road to improve connectivity for residents of nearby sectors and ease traffic flow. Work on the over Rs 51 crore project is set to begin this month. The loops, each 7.5 metres wide and 500 metres long, are expected to be completed by Aug 2028.Noida Authority’s general manager, A K Arora, said the project aims to provide access to the elevated corridor from nearby sectors. “The financial bids have now been opened. We have selected an agency to develop the project in two years,” he added.The surrounding area has a population of around 1.5 lakh to 2 lakh residents, who are forced to take longer detours in the absence of easy access to the elevated road.The proposed diamond-shaped interchange will connect Vishwakarma Road near Sunworld Vanalika in Sector 107. It will have four ramps in a diamond configuration to enable continuous traffic flow and reduce congestion. The interchange is expected to improve connectivity to 7x sectors, among others.Proposed in 2013, construction of the elevated road began only in June 2020, and the original Dec 2022 deadline was extended repeatedly due to funding gaps, design changes and slow approvals, with the project finally completed more than five years behind schedule.The six-lane flyover, built at Rs 608 crore, cuts travel time between Noida and Dadri from nearly 40 minutes to about five, diverting traffic away from the heavily encroached Dadri-Surajpur-Chhalera Road below.The 4.5-km elevated road, which stretches from Agahpur pump in Sector 51 to NSEZ, has lacked exit loops since it opened in Nov last year, leaving commuters travelling to sectors 41, 42, 47, 48, 107 and the 7x sectors unable to use it.
