Times News NetworkKanpur: Advocates of Kanpur court on Friday tore the copies of Draft Advocates (Amendment) Bill, to lodge their protest. Several advocates assembled at Shatabdi gate and raised the slogans. Ravindra Sharma, convener of Adhivakta Kalyan Sangharsh Samiti Sharma said that the proposal to raise the registration fee from Rs. 750 to Rs. 22,500 was an attempt to keep children from economically weakerfamilies out of the legal profession. He added that there is no mention of the Advocate Welfare Fund (insurance) or thepension scheme for senior advocates. “Without provisions for cashless medical treatment for advocates and their families, this amendment bill is nothing but waste paper; we demand itswithdrawal”, Sharma claimed.
