Chandigarh: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Saturday announced Ankit Bidhan as its candidate for the post of president in the Panjab University Campus Students’ Council (PUCSC) elections scheduled for Aug 31.A member of ABVP since 2021, Bidhan is a research scholar at the Centre for the Study of Social Inclusion, Panjab University. He completed his graduation in Jind, Haryana, and later pursued law at PU’s Department of Laws.ABVP leaders said the organisation, which won the PUCSC presidential post last year, would seek to retain the position while continuing to raise student issues.Punjab ABVP state secretary Jaskaran Singh Bhullar said the organisation’s focus extended beyond electoral success to addressing students’ concerns. PUCSC president Gaurav Veer Sohal highlighted the work undertaken by ABVP during the past year and referred to a report card released by the organisation.Bidhan said he would work to represent students’ concerns and safeguard their rights, and appealed to students to support ABVP in the elections.
