Tourists enjoy the sunshine after a spell of light rain in Shimla on Saturday

Shimla: The meteorological department has forecast light to moderate rainfall at a few places across Himachal Pradesh on Aug 23 and 24.Light rain is also likely at isolated places in the state during the remaining days of the week. No weather alert has been issued for the coming week.Moderate rainfall lashed several parts of the hill state on Friday and Saturday. Kangra district recorded the highest rainfall in the state at 36.3 mm, followed by Hamirpur with 18.1 mm of rain.Mandi recorded 14 mm of rain, Chamba 6.9 mm, Shimla 3.3 mm, Kullu 3 mm and Kinnaur 1.6 mm of rain.Kukumseri in Lahaul-Spiti was the coldest with a minimum temperature of 11.2℃, while Una was the hottest with a maximum temperature of 33.8℃.The rain also disrupted essential services across the state. As of Saturday evening, 98 roads remained blocked. Also, 89 electricity transformers and 42 water supply schemes remain out of order.Mandi was the worst hit with 42 blocked roads, while 31 roads remained disrupted in Kullu.According to official estimates, Himachal Pradesh has suffered cumulative losses of more than Rs 1,121 crore between June 30 and August 22. During the same period, 224 people have died in Himachal Pradesh due to various causes, including 133 deaths in road accidents.
