PUNE: A 65-year-old farmer and his ailing wife were allegedly abused and beaten with wooden sticks by their two sons in Maharashtra’s Pune district following a dispute over the sale of land owned by the woman.The incident took place on August 30 in Indapur when the elderly couple had stepped out for an evening walk, police said.According to police, the couple’s two sons arrived at the spot in a car and allegedly began abusing their parents over the sale of a parcel of land belonging to their mother. The argument soon turned violent, with the two men allegedly attacking the couple with wooden sticks.The farmer suffered injuries to his face, back, thighs and left shoulder, while his wife was injured on her right wrist and waist.Police said the accused also allegedly threatened the couple with serious consequences if they did not cancel the land deal.Passersby alerted the police, following which a team rushed to the spot and took the injured couple to a hospital. After receiving preliminary treatment, the farmer approached Indapur police and lodged a complaint against his sons.The two accused have been booked under sections 118 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 351 (criminal intimidation) and 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of peace) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
