The Pune Railway Police have registered a case of accidental death

Pune: An Army havildar posted at the National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakwasla, was found dead on the railway tracks between Khadki and Shivajinagar on Tuesday evening, prompting the Army to order a Court of Inquiry into the circumstances surrounding his death.Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel found havildar Jagtar Singh, who was serving at the NDA, on the tracks around 5.30pm on Tuesday.The body was subsequently shifted to the Aundh District Hospital for a postmortem examination. Singh, 41, hailed from Punjab. The Army has informed his relatives about the incident.In an official statement, the NDA said, “A Court of Inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the circumstances of this unfortunate incident.”Senior inspector Pramod Khoppikar of the Government Railway Police (GRP), Pune, said, “The station manager of the Khadki railway station informed us that a person had been run over by a train nearby.”“Two police personnel reached the spot and found the body. The deceased was identified as Jagtar Singh, an Indian Army soldier currently residing at the NDA. He was a native of Barnala, Punjab,” Khoppikar added.Following the postmortem examination, the body was handed over to the deceased’s relatives for the last rites. The Pune Railway Police have registered a case of accidental death.
