Bathinda: Barnala Police have placed Dhanaula SHO inspector Lakhbir Singh under suspension for the second time in less than 3 months. He was first suspended over allegations of misbehaving with the daughter of a deceased BSF deputy commandant. In another case, the SHO allegedly used abusive and obscene language against women during a dispute over street construction.In the first case, deceased BSF deputy commandant Sukhcharan Singh’ daughter Jaswinder Kaur, resident of Kaleka village, had a property dispute in the village. As pr sources, some wooden logs were fixed after measurement of land in the absence of Jaswinder Kaur, which she uprooted. Upon a complaint made by the other party, Jaswinder Kaur and her nephew Harpreet Singh were called to Dhanaula police station on Dec 4, 2025, where she had heated exchanges with the SHO, who alleged that Jaswinder and Harpreet tried to tear off his uniform. As per Jaswinder Kaur, SHO Lakhbir Singh badly thrashed Harpreet Singh and used foul language against her, and a FIR was registered. Subsequently, the SHO was placed under suspension, but was reinstated after some time.Earlier this week, some dispute arose over alignment of laying down the interlocking tiles in the street at Rajgarh village, also under the jurisdiction of Dhanaula police station. As per locals, inspector Lakhbir Singh landed in the village and allegedly used abusive language against the women and, failing to tolerate it, one Manjinder Singh gulped poisonous substance, but he was somehow saved.BJP national secretary Tarun Chugh on Sunday posted on social media, “Whatever happened with the daughter of a Deputy Commandant is intolerable. The SHO not only used abusive language, but thrashed them in the police station. No justice in four months and the SHO getting reinstated shows how accountable officials are in Bhagwant Mann and Arvind Kejriwal regime.”Barnala SSP Sarfaraz Alam said that “the matter pertaining to Jaswinder Kaur is an old one and SHO was transferred to police lines.
