NAGPUR: A case involving alleged abduction, sexual exploitation and forced marriage of a minor girl has come to light in Nagpur, with the survivor approaching police after six years and detailing years of alleged physical and mental torture.The girl was allegedly abducted at the age of 16 in 2020 and later forced into a marriage by a youth, according to her complaint. Police said the survivor’s name and age were allegedly changed in a forged Aadhaar card, and they are also probing a possible forced religious conversion angle.The alleged incident began around August 13, 2020, in the Mankapur-Zingabai Takli area. According to the complainant, the accused, identified as Sameer Ali, who was then around 21-24 years old, allegedly abducted her and established physical relations with her while treating her as his wife.

Sameer worked at a pan kiosk near Mankapur Chowk.To allegedly legitimise the relationship, the accused reportedly prepared a fake Aadhaar card by changing her name and increasing her age to portray her as an adult. In 2021, the girl was allegedly taken to a shrine near Awasthi Chowk in the presence of Sameer’s family members — Aziza Munir Ali, 45, and Munir Ali, 50. The nikah was solemnised by Maulana Anwar, according to the complainant.The survivor is now the mother of a four-year-old child allegedly fathered by Sameer Ali. She alleged that Sameer, Aziza and Munir had conspired to deceive her with the intention of religious conversion and exploitation, a police source said.The fake Aadhaar card was allegedly used to admit her to a government maternity hospital, source said.Senior police officers said teams are verifying the sequence of events, examining the Aadhaar card, recording statements of witnesses, including the person who allegedly facilitated the marriage, and gathering medical and forensic evidence.“The girl was a minor at the time of the alleged abduction and initial exploitation. We are exploring all angles, including personal relationships turning sour,” a senior police officer said.Investigators are specifically looking into whether she was allegedly lured and forced to change religion for marriage.Police have registered a case under multiple provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including kidnapping, provisions of the POCSO Act related to sexual offences against a minor, and the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act. Sections related to forgery of documents and criminal conspiracy have also been invoked.The investigation is underway to establish the alleged conspiracy, the role of the maulana, and the authenticity of the documents involved.(The victim’s identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
