Kanpur: In a joint operation, Bihar Thana police, along with SOG and the surveillance team, rescued an 11-year-old boy and arrested the main accused after an encounter in Unnao within eight hours of the crime.On Saturday around 2:30 pm, a class V student did not reach home from school. Family members approached the police accusing a man of the same village. A case was registered under various sections of BNS and the SC/ST Act. Teams formed on the directions of the Superintendent of Police began checking near Padwakheda Power House on Purwa-Asoha Road.During the checking, police spotted the accused and the child on a motorcycle. On being signalled to stop, the accused tried to flee towards a deserted route, but the motorcycle skidded. The accused then opened fire at the team. In retaliatory firing by the police, the accused was shot at in his left leg. The police arrested the accused and rescued the child. Police have recovered an illegal pistol (315 bore), one empty cartridge case, one live cartridge, the motorcycle used in the incident, and a mobile phone from the spot. The injured accused was sent to CHC Purwa for treatment.The rescued child was handed over to his family. The accused was being interrogated to ascertain the real reasons behind the kidnapping, said police. The police team was praised for its swift action.
