Hazaribag: A 36-year-old woman labourer, who had been staying with her elderly mother in her native Khutra village in Ichak block of the district after being abandoned by her husband, was killed by lightning on Monday, police said.The deceased was identified as Shobha Devi.Shobha Devi went to call her four minor children — Sheetal Kumari (17), Sonam Kumari (15), Saurabh Kumar (13) and Varsha Kumari (12) — who were collecting jamun near thir house when lightning struck.Ichak police station OC Gautam Kumar said, “The body was sent to Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examination.”National OBC Morcha’s Ichak block president Sunil Kumar Talwar visited the village and assured support. He urged block officials to expedite compensation under disaster relief provisions.
