Welcome to “Face It,” in which practitioners, dermatologists, facialists and other beauty experts answer our rapid-fire questions (quicker than you can say “just a few more units, please?”), revealing their hottest takes, most controversial opinions and the hard truths they wish their clients could come to terms with.

Dr. Michelle Henry, a board-certified dermatologist based in Manhattan who practices at Skin & Aesthetic Surgery of Manhattan and also teaches at Weill Cornell Medical School, is one of the city’s most respected skin experts for many reasons. One of them is that she’s open about telling patients the things they might truly need to hear. For example, “Just because it works for your TikTok bestie does not mean it works for you,” she told Fashionista in a recent interview.

At an event celebrating the launch of Bath & Body Works’ new Essentials line, which caters specifically to sensitive skin (and for which Dr. Henry serves as a spokesperson), Fashionista caught up with the MD about all her skin-care hot takes. She shared the universal beauty truth everyone should come to terms with, divulged the cheapest part of her beauty routine (it’s actually free!) and the items in her practice she uses “liberally” to keep her own skin in shape. Plus, she set the record straight about fragrance in skin care — and the many common misconceptions surrounding it.

Watch the video below for all of Dr. Henry’s hottest beauty takes:
