Lucknow: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday took a ride on Japan’s SCMAGLEV, or the Superconducting Magnetic Levitation high-speed train, which can reach speeds of up to 500 km per hour.Sharing his first-hand experience in a post on X, Yogi highlighted the extraordinary speed and stability of the system.
“You can see that I was travelling at 501 km/h. Experienced Japan’s advanced SCMAGLEV train in Yamanashi… the ride was smooth and remarkably stable even at extraordinary speed, reflecting Japan’s commitment to innovation and long-term infrastructure excellence,” he said.Sharing visuals of the onboard speed display board, the CM also took photos when the train crossed the 501 km/hour speed.The train ride at the Yamanashi Prefecture provided the Uttar Pradesh govt an opportunity to explore cooperation between the two parties in sectors such as modern transport systems.The CM described the SCMAGLEV train as not just a symbol of speed, but also an example of a clean, energy-efficient and precise mobility system, adding that the technology had the potential to provide new direction to global transportation systems in the coming years.While in Yamanashi, Yogi also viewed Japan’s natural icon, Mount Fuji.Japan’s highest mountain peak and active volcano is a Unesco World Heritage Site. “The majestic Mount Fuji represents Japan’s timeless beauty and cultural pride. Witnessing it on a bright and clear day was a moment of good fortune for me,” he said adding that he appreciated Japan’s rich traditions, natural grandeur and disciplined society.
