Srinagar, September 19: Apni Party president Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Saturday called for a review and rationalisation of the reservation policy in Jammu and Kashmir, saying it should ensure fair representation of different sections of society.
Speaking to reporters after inaugurating an exhibition in Srinagar, Bukhari said the existing policy was, in his view, not judicious and needed to be reviewed.
“My stand on the reservation issue is clear: reservation should be based on population, ensuring fair and equitable representation of different sections of society,” he said.
The exhibition featured young entrepreneurs and exhibitors from Srinagar, Jammu, Delhi and Punjab, who showcased a range of products, including handicrafts and jewellery.
Bukhari said such events provided young people with exposure and opportunities to develop business ideas and explore new avenues.
He also described the participation of exhibitors from different parts of the country as a positive sign of national integration and said such platforms helped showcase local products and talent.
