Chatra: Three miscreants were arrested on Tuesday on charges of their alleged involvement in the August 7 robbery of jewellery shop owner at Pratappur More, police said.The arrested accused have been identified as Amit Kumar (24) of Parasia village under the Hunterganj police station, Bitu Kumar (18) of Chhotki Jori village under the Vashishtha Nagar police station and Rohit Kumar (18) of Karailibar village under the Vashishtha Nagar police station limits.DSP (Headquarters) Sunil Kumar Singh said, “Mrityunjay Kumar Verma, the owner of Saraswati Jewellers, was crossing in front of Kasturba Vidyalaya at Pratappur More around 8.15pm on August 7 when the three accused intercepted him, robbed his mobile phone and gold chain, and opened fire to create panic before fleeing. A case was lodged at Vashishtha Nagar police station under relevant sections of the BNS and the Arms Act against unidentified persons.”“Amit Kumar is a history sheeter. A case related to dacoity was registered against him at Hunterganj police station in 2021. He also has cases registered against him at Sherghati police station and Bahera outpost in Bihar,” he added.A country-made pistol, a live cartridge, and a motorcycle allegedly used in the crime have been seized, police added.
