Madhubani administration cracked down on LPG cylinder hoarders and black marketers, registering two cases and recovering 89 empty cylinders. Raids uncovered illegal storage at a herbal medicine shop and a general store, leading to arrests and seizures. Special teams are now inspecting all LPG agencies to ensure fair distribution and consumer supply.

Madhubani: In a drive to ensure hassle-free supply of LPG cylinders, the Madhubani district administration intensified action against hoarders and black-marketers.Two separate cases were registered on Sunday following raids conducted under the directive of DM Anand Sharma and 89 empty cylinders were recovered from various spots.Acting on a tip-off, the Rudrapur police team raided a shop dealing in herbal medicines and books at Karnpur under Rudrapur police station area and recovered 72 empty LPG cylinders stored illegally.The accused, Mohammad Samim, son of Abdul Quddus, resident of Harna gram panchayat under Rudrapur police station area, was arrested from the place. All 72 cylinders were seized. Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused was hoarding domestic LPG cylinders with the intention of selling them at higher prices.A case has been registered against him and further investigation is underway.In the second incident, a team comprising magistrates and police officials inspected a shop at Chanauraganj in Jhanjarpur block and recovered 17 empty LPG cylinders. An FIR was lodged against the shopowner, Deepak Kumar Purve, and he was sent to judicial custody.The DM has formed special teams to inspect every LPG agency in the district. The teams are thoroughly checking stock registers, distribution systems, booking procedures, timely supply to consumers, and compliance with norms.
