New Delhi: As many as 83 people, including 43 women, were detained after Rajasthan Police, with assistance from Delhi Police, raided a call centre operating from a residential building in southwest Delhi’s Uttam Nagar Saturday in connection with a cyber fraud case registered in Rajasthan.The case was registered after a customer in Deeg was allegedly offered a credit card by a man who claimed to be associated with a private bank. When asked to establish his identity, the accused allegedly sent the bank’s visiting card over messages. The customer subsequently got the details verified through an acquaintance working with the bank, following which the card was found to be fake.DCP (dwarka) Kushal Pal Singh said, “Based on a complaint by the bank’s branch manager, Rajasthan Police registered an FIR at Cyber Police Station, Deeg, on Aug 28. During the investigation, police arrested an accused from Azamgarh and traced the suspected premises in Uttam Nagar.”

The premises was found to be owned and managed by a 47-year-old Uttam Nagar resident.According to police, the employees received customer data from their contractual company and contacted customers to sell credit cards. If a customer agreed, the card was allegedly issued through the official credit card website. Police said the SIM cards used by the callers were registered in their own names and were not found to be fake.
