Eight people died when a car collided with a parked lorry in Thrissur district.

THRISSUR: Eight people, suspected to be students from neighbouring Tamil Nadu, were killed after the car they were travelling in rammed into a lorry parked on the highway in Kerala’s Thrissur district late Friday night, police said on Saturday.The accident occurred around 11.40pm at Panambikkunnu in Kaipamangalam, near Thrissur, police said.All eight occupants of the car died on the spot. The victims were pulled out of the mangled vehicle during a rescue operation involving local residents, fire and rescue personnel and police.The bodies have been shifted to the mortuary of Thrissur Medical College, police said.The car, which had a Tamil Nadu registration number, was reportedly travelling from Guruvayur towards Kodungallur when it collided with the parked lorry.Police said the deceased are suspected to be students from Tamil Nadu.Further details about the identities of the victims and the circumstances leading to the accident are awaited.
