Mangaluru: Based on credible information that some Bangladeshi nationals were residing at an under-construction building, Surathkal police conducted a raid on Thursday. During the document verification for a total of 54 construction workers, police found eight Bangladeshi nationals residing there illegally, said city police commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy. The commissioner said it has been learnt that these Bangladeshi nationals entered India illegally from Bangladesh via Murshidabad, West Bengal, about three months ago. They subsequently obtained Aadhaar cards bearing West Bengal addresses, affixing their own photographs and creating color photocopies. They have been in Mukka for the past two months, engaged in construction work, he said.“Upon bringing these Bangladeshi nationals to the police station for a thorough investigation and verifying their identification documents, birth certificates, and family records, it was confirmed that they are indeed residents of Bangladesh, and had come here for manual labour. The said Bangladeshi residents entered India illegally by crossing the border without obtaining any travel documents or visas. A report regarding the further course of action has been submitted to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) in Bengaluru,” the commissioner said.The operation to identify and apprehend these Bangladeshi nationals who illegally infiltrated and entered India was led by Mangaluru North ACP Shrikanth K. The team included Surathkal police inspector Pramod Kumar, PSI Raghu Nayak, and station staff members ASI Rajesh Alva, Tirupati Allolli, Umesh, Rajendra Prasad, Karthik, Vinod Kumar, Sathish Sattigeri, Santhosh, and Omprakash Bingi.Expel Bangladeshi nationals: MLAMangaluru City North MLA Y Bharath Shetty stated that the incident, where eight Bangladeshi nationals were found residing illegally under the guise of construction workers and having obtained unauthorised Aadhaar cards, serves as a wake-up call for the state’s security. If such illegal infiltrations are not taken seriously, the consequences could be dire. The MLA urged the state govt to work alongside the central govt to expel these Bangladeshi nationals.
